Easy Furniture Update
We were given this tall boy chest of drawers about 15 years ago by my husbands Mother. It’s nothing remarkable but I do like some of the detailing on it, and as ‘brown’ furniture goes I quite like the warmth and character it gives our bedroom.
However, I never quite liked the knobs on it and on closer inspection they had rusted and were quite loose.
As an Interior Designer I often like to take pieces and see what can be done with them to fit our space and style of our home.
I’m also quite a fan of the Georgian style, and when I came across these brass knobs in our local hardware store, I knew instantly they would go together perfectly.
When I work on clients homes, I always advise that simple items like fixtures and fittings are like jewellery for your home. So handles, knobs, hinges and brackets can add some serious character and style to your home so very easily.
The beauty also is that they are often interchangeable items, so updating your pieces is as easy as changing a necklace.
I love the new gold handles and think it adds some series style to the rather drab looking piece it was before.
I’d love to know your thoughts on this very easy transformation, and I hope it inspires you to revisit a piece at home and breathe new life in it.
Happy decorating,
