FREE HELP & SUPPORT, who doesn't want that for the FREE HELP & SUPPORT, who doesn't want that for their small business. I came across this cute little graphic that was posted by @grazedining that sums it all up. How we can all help our beautiful local small business owners to stay afloat, hang in there and come out the other end. These are all easy peasy things we can all do, and I'm doing these things 10,000 miles away on the other side of the planet when I was told, how on earth can you support East Yorkshire. Well my friends it's simple and here's how. Today in Australia its Mothers Day. To all the Mum Today in Australia its Mothers Day. To all the Mum's around the world, I think it should be Mother's Day everyday for all the things we do unconditionally, the shopping, the cleaning, the washing, the cooking, the working, and now the home schooling and every other task we juggle in life. So it's nice to put our feet up and take a moment to relax and enjoy some pampering.Happy Mothers Day from Australia. #MothersDayAustralia, #lovemum, #mumsarethebest
New Blog Article: Green thumbs or not I cannot hig New Blog Article: Green thumbs or not I cannot highly recommend getting out into the garden, courtyard, balcony wherever you have a little green space at home. Lockdown aside, nature is honestly the best tonic to this situation right now. We are nature and we belong in nature. Scientists and Psychologists have proven that nature can help restore us, lift us and make us feel much more positive and less stressed, it relaxes us and connects us to what really matters our health. I'm lucky to have a decent sized garden in Australia, my husband and I have been growing herbs, veggies, fruit, nuts and flowers. My Heritage inspired English Herb Garden is now packed with amazing herbs from yesteryear, something I'm very passionate about as they are amazing in cooking as well as for health. So I really encourage you to get out into the garden this weekend if you can, breathe and enjoy the peace nature gives us as well as the lovely bounty of good food for free, so go on try 'The Good Life' approach and let me know how it makes you feel. #gardening, #positivity, #lessstress, #mindfulness, #nature, #healing, #plants, #herbs, #vegetables, #flowers, #thegoodlife, #nationalgardeningweek
The very best thing that has come out of this pand The very best thing that has come out of this pandemic, is the enthusiasm to support local community, and local businesses. Shopping and supporting local supports the local economy and is a sure fire way of making sure the UK gets back on its feet sooner. Recently I stumbled on a lady called Cathy St. German who has set up a database called @farmstofeedus. she has created a National and local database of local food producers for the general public to shop direct from. Genius! I wanted to let you all know about this endeavour so that we can all help support local and be able to buy food directly from the producers so we know we are getting quality and delicious food right from the source and we are supporting our local farmers. Win-win situation. www.cathystgermansevents.com

WOW! Is all I can say today. When I started WFTW i WOW! Is all I can say today. When I started WFTW in January this year, my mission was clear, to support the locals and their businesses, and to help build the local economy and prosperity in East Yorkshire. All from 10,000 miles away n Australia I might add. I contacted many key local people who I thought could help me with the mission. Some responded, some did not. Today reading through some Tweets, what did I see? Some of the local movers and shakers who did not respond, now taking up the mission I started. Maybe it's the crisis that's brought out their community spirit, whatever changed, I thank them now for getting on board with what I could see on my last years visit a vital and critical thing for East Yorkshire. As Meg Ryan put it in When Harry Met Sally, YES, YES, YES!!!!!!! #supportlocal, #supportlocalbusiness, #shoplocal, #eastyorkshire, #eastyorks, #lockdown, #communityspirit, #together, #greatproduce, #greatartisans, #greatfoodproducers
Have you heard of Salad Burnett before? If not, le Have you heard of Salad Burnett before? If not, let me introduce you to it. It's a gorgeous delicate herb related to the Rose family. Not only does it have medicinal properties (it was used for the Plague), it also has delicious culinary properties too. Amazing in a G&T, its cucumber like flavour is divine. Its delicious in sandwiches if your not a lettuce lover. It's great with eggs, can be added to lemonade or spritzers, add it to dips or in bottles of vinegar, it's so great to experiment with. Best of all its very easy to grow. Here in Australia I grow it in the shade as its so delicate and needs protecting from our harsh sun, but in the UK it would grow well in part sun/shade. Salad Burnett is just 1 of many heritage herbs I've been growing and experimenting with during lockdown. Getting back to nature is the best tonic for mind, body and soul, and now the pollution has been cut back around the world, it's so peaceful outside in the garden and is a real joy rather than being cooped up inside. See if you can find a nursery online that stocks this little beauty of a herb, it's a great edition to any kitchen garden. #heritage, #herbs, #english, #rose, #gardening, #kitchengarden, #growyourown, #getoutside, #mentalhealth, #cooking, #creating
Happy Easter to you all from Wild for the Wilds. A Happy Easter to you all from Wild for the Wilds. A huge shout out to all the local businesses that are managing to keep going and to those that will be back after a little hibernation. I think you are all super heros keeping safe, keeping healthy and looking after each other so well. That's the Yorkshire Spirit I like to see because its genuine. Enjoy the chocolate, enjoy the sunshine at home and hopefully soon I'll be hopping on over to see you. Much love to you all. #Easter, #Eastereggs, #bunny, #chicks, #Spring, #happyeaster
Today I want to shine a spotlight on supporting th Today I want to shine a spotlight on supporting the hospitality industry, as cafes, bars and restaurants had to close their doors for the time being. Ever creative, our local entrepreneurs have turned to take away and delivery services to help stay in business. It must have been so sad for them to close their doors, but that doesn't mean we cannot still enjoy their delicious food and drink. I love this idea as it's a win win for everyone. There are many local businesses now offering take away or delivery from Michelin star restaurants to local deli's, local food producers, local cafes and many more local businesses out there. I would love to list out a directory of them all and their offering for the locals to access, but meantime check out their websites and socials as offers are daily. #supportlocal, #shoplocal, #supportsmallbusiness, #supportbusiness, #buylocal, #supportyorkshire, #supporteastyorkshire
Well this crazy virus is now impacting Australia. Well this crazy virus is now impacting Australia. I was running a series to help support local, but things have changed rapidly in the UK, but I'm still here to support my Yorkshire friends. We are a few weeks behind the UK. So as restrictions take place daily the need to look after oneself and family becomes the priority. Wild for the Wolds was born upon a reflection of our lovely land and as a country girl I'm going to embark upon a little project to look at how we can build our immunity using natural produce and with the nature we have on our very doorstep. Today in my test kitchen I tried making Elderberry Jam. First batch tastes good but I think I'll approach the recipe a bit differently to perfect. It's a super easy thing to make and Elderberries are renowned for their immunity building properties in beating colds and flu. Now I'm not suggesting its a cure for this virus, but looking after your immunity is the best arsenal you can have. When I've perfected this super jam, I'll post up the recipe for you all to try, or if you can find a pot of this local gold, I would certainly recommend trying some, Photo from @pipeandglass beautiful kitchen garden. #alonetogether, #stayathome, #togetherathome, #nature, #naturalremedies, #kitchengarden, #quarantinebaking, #staypositive, #gonatural, #gardening, #growyourown, #rayofsunshine, #supporteachother

Welcome to the second day of our creative initiati Welcome to the second day of our creative initiative week for local small businesses.
Today we look at buying locally sourced goods. We are super blessed in our part of Yorkshire to have fantastic local food producers and artisans. Their outstanding and award winning products have been the achievement of years of hard-work sweat, tears and love poured into their products, and they have helped put the Yorkshire Wolds back on the UK map. This is why it's critical now to support these lovely people whose livelihoods depend on local support to keep buying their produce. As the restaurants, cafes and bars close, a huge portion of their usual business income has gone. They are working very hard behind the scenes to think laterally to help stay in business. but they need your support. So when you next need some meat, bakery items, beverages, think about shopping locally from our small local producers instead of the large multi-nationals, keeping money in the local economy will help stabilise the future, small businesses are the backbone of our communities and our local economy. Our small local producers are very active right now on Social Media, so check out their websites and their socials to learn more about what they can offer you, you'll find that being local and small means they are very flexible right now to help with what you need. So let's give the love back please to these amazing people. As a side note, I'm very hopeful that this may all have a silver lining, helping to once again bring the High Street back into favour, we may not be able to visit the shops right now, but the power of online cannot be ignored as a way to shop locally by choice. #shoplocal, #shopsmall, #buylocal, #supportsmallbusiness, #supportbusiness, #supportyorkshire, #thankyouforyoursupport
As of today, I will be providing some creative ide As of today, I will be providing some creative ideas to help small local Yorkshire businesses out there to keep trading in the current climate with the restrictions that are now in place.
I would like to see all locals help support their small local businesses too because this will really make a big difference to the local economy, small local businesses are the very fabric of our communities, if they go our communities will look very different and take a long time to recover.
Today's creative idea is the consideration of a Gift Card offer to your customers online. Buying a gift card from a local business whether you use it now or save it, gives businesses much needed cash flow. It helps limit interactions and non-essential visits to stores. There are companies that can help get this item set up and I think it's a brilliant win win for everyone, but ensure the time limit of the gift card is enough for your customers to save it when things return to normal. #shoplocal, #shopsmall, #supportsmallbusiness, #supportlocal, #supportyorkshire
Happy Mother's Day to all the fabulous Mum's out t Happy Mother's Day to all the fabulous Mum's out there today. If you cannot see your Mum because of the current situation, please pick up the phone, skype or facetime them and give them all a big virtual hug.
I say this from the bottom of my heart because I lost my Mum last year in very tragic circumstances. Not 1 day goes by without missing her, so I'm a big advocate for appreciating your Mum and all the unconditional things they do or did for us.
My Mum was the inspiration for Wild for the Wolds, she cared deeply about our part of Yorkshire and watched it change over the decades.for better or worse. Her caring instilled in me a love and appreciation for the Yorkshire Wolds as a precious asset and the hidden jewel in the crown of Yorkshire.
So on this day to appreciate all Mum's, a big thank you to all the wise, nurturing and supportive Mum's out there, you make our world a much better place. #mothersday2020, #mumsday, #flowers, #love, #mothersdaygift, #thanksmum, #mymumisthebest, #lovemymum
I have been so amazed by you all in these extraord I have been so amazed by you all in these extraordinary times, making tough decisions with your businesses, whilst trying to diversify to stay in business.
Some businesses have had to close their cafes and restaurants, now offering takeaways and deliveries, others are offering incentives to buy online, rather than going to their shops, and others have offered jobs to those that have recently lost theirs-this is incredible and awesome, this is the Yorkshire Spirit.
I am more than happy to help promote how locals can still buy your goods and services. We need a directory for locals to know how they can still buy from local businesses. If you think this is a good idea, message me, we can make this happen and promote to support everyone.
The key is to SHOP LOCAL FIRST.
Stay safe and healthy everyone, sending much love to you all. Zoe x #shoplocal, #supportlocal, #supportsmallbusiness, #buylocal, #supportbusiness, #supportyorkshire
It's International Women's Day today, where we cel It's International Women's Day today, where we celebrate how far we've come, and how amazing some of the women were that blazed a trail before us, in the face of adversity and in the name of equality, when equality was not recognised much in the 20th Century. My all time heroine is Aviatrix Amy Johnson, she personifies the Yorkshire Spirit of Women, independent, driven, intelligent, talented and daring. Her solo mission to Australia was incredible at the time, she is a true pioneer, and as a Yorkshire Wolds lass, I'm very proud of her as she represents what equality really means, not a question of gender, but a question of talent in her own right, and boy did she prove what can be done and shake the conscious and unconscious bias in the 1930's. So on this momentous day, let's make these incredible ladies proud and carry on their amazing legacy by creating our own incredible legacy in this world. #internationalwomensday, #pioneers, #legacy, #women, #celebrating, #women, #ladies, #iwd, #strongwomen, #men, #thankyou, #instawomen, #instaiwd
Spring is one of my absolute favourite seasons, an Spring is one of my absolute favourite seasons, and even though its autumn here (not like autumn back home in Yorkshire) we still get daffodils, tulips, cheerfulness and hyacinths in the shops, so I still pretend it's Spring here too, and decorate the house with beautiful spring flowers, I just love the colours of Spring. #spring, #seasons, #flowers, #yorkshire, #yorkshirewolds, #nature, #love, #springtime, #springday, #spring2020,
